Kia Motors Corporation is one of the ‘Top 100 Best Global Brands’ according to a 2012 study by world renowned agency, Interbrand. The car manufacturer is now estimated to be worth US$4.1 billion, which sets it at 87th place on the rankings. This rise in popularity mirrors the company’s recent surge in profits, cementing its position as the world’s fastest growing major automakers. Over a three-year period, annual global sales have grown by 81 per cent to nearly 2.5 million units. “Entering this list validates our commitment to continuously provide exciting and inspiring experiences. In addition to the major advances the company has made on the product front, Kia Motors has also been executing numerous large-scale marketing initiatives that have helped raise awareness of their vehicles. Sponsorship agreements have been made with premier sporting events like the FIFA World Cup, Australian Open and National Basketball Association. Plus, Kia’s strong presence on social media channels has resulted in engaging its young-at-heart customers. Innovative advertising campaigns have also played a major role in boosting the company’s name on the international stage. One such ad was the eccentric music-loving hamster TV commercial seen in the USA for the iconic Soul urban crossover vehicle. With over 2.5 million vehicles being produced every year, Kia is now in the big league, with vehicles produced at 15 manufacturing and assembly operations in ten countries.
