BACKSTAGE PASS Our take on what’s cool, trending and fashionable Azzedine Alaïa Exhibition Planned A retrospective honouring the late Tunisian designer Azzedine Alaïa will open at the Design Museum in London in May. Alaïa, whose sudden death from heart failure rocked he world of fashion, had been working with the museum’s guest curator, Mark Wilson, on the exhibition, selecting rare pieces from his archive and providing documentation of his creative process. The Paris-based designer was widely celebrated for his ability to cut, fit, drape and tailor in a traditional way. He was also hugely popular, with models such as Naomi Campbell paying tearful tributes at his passing.
