It’s the “dressing from the bedroom floor” idea of throwing together prints and florals, summer and winter threads, clashing textures, fabrics and colours to create a glorious riot of, almost, anti-style. This mad mix has long been a staple at DSquared2, where designers Dan and Dean Caten are the experts. But, this season it’s taken hold across the board from gentle layers at Replay to flowers, velvet and punky tees at Alice and Olivia. Coach and Kenzo hit two trends in one, pairing plaid with layers, while Zadig and Voltaire and Bershka ignored the threat of cooler weather to feature cropped pants and flash a little flesh.
