I was booked to have my roots retouched, a haircut, manicure and pedicure. It was a perfect day for pampering and I was looking forward to a chilled afternoon and some alone time. I was greeted by the manager, who remembered me from one of my earlier visits, and instantly made me feel welcome. She introduced me to my hairdresser, who began the consultation by asking which service I required. I told her that my roots needed retouching and, after a brief discussion, we chose a mix of two colours – Majirel High Lift This popular salon, situated in the idyllic setting of Amwaj Islands, is the perfect go-to spot for all your pampering needs. JOZ SALON & SPA SALON WITH A VIEW Intense Ash and Violet. She neatly prepped me for the treatment and applied the mixture on the roots, leaving it on for 45 minutes. While I was patiently waiting for the colour to catch, my lovely nail technician escorted me to one of the comfy stations for a pedicure and manicure, starting with a gentle soak in warm water with soap. With my feet resting in the luxurious lather, the scenic views of the open sea and the ambient music of the salon made me feel like I was at a holiday resort – the only things missing were cocktails with little umbrellas. However, I did have a delicious coffee and an amazing foot scrub to relax me even further. My skilful beauty specialist groomed my nails by cutting, filing, shaping and buffing them, finally applying nail varnish. I chose OPI’s Lucky Lucky Lavender to match my mellow mood. She then gave the same thorough treatment to my fingernails with the manicure, finishing with a gentle massage of my hands. It was now time to rinse my hair and see the results. My colourist shampooed and conditioned my locks and used a toner to neutralise any brassy yellow or orange tones. She then expertly trimmed my short hair and styled it beautifully with a blow dry. I was very happy with my colour as the ashy blonde shade really popped, giving my hair that healthy glow back again. The salon has other styling services, including flat ironing, curling, as well as casual, creative and bridal up-do styles. Permanent hair straightening is also available, along with extensions and a wide range of treatments and services for nails, skin and body. It has an ongoing ‘Pick & Mix’ promotion that runs throughout November offering three select services for BD15, valid from Sunday to Wednesday. The choices include classic manicure, Shellac polish for hands, 20-minute massage, spa pedicure, scalp treatment, blow dry, half-arm wax and half-leg wax. My three hours of pampering had flown by, and I would definitely recommend Joz Salon & Spa to Amwaj residents and anyone else who seeks exceptional service at great value prices.
