49 woman this month | November 2011 | Splash is a real Middle Eastern phenomenon. It started as a fairly small venture and has quickly grown to superstardom. The idea has been to create on-trend, haute-couture-inspired clothes, and to sell them at affordable prices, for those of us who can’t dress head-to-toe in Chanel and Gucci on a daily basis. And the outcome has been quite inspiring. True, they did have a hefty deal of financial backing, but happily this hasn’t made them hitch up their prices. The show itself was a high-budget extravaganza. With around a thousand guests filling the Madinat Arena, the buzz among the crowd was quite palpable. Throughout the show they pulled out all the stops, with a live band, pyrotechnics, a plethora of stunning models and much more than the usual 24 looks format. The outfits ranged from punky day time wear, to elegant evening get-ups. There were play suits, full-length gowns, faux-fur stoles, boom boxes and the odd pair of hi-tops. Runway Show Splash
