80 May 2015 showcase DETAILS SHED SOME LIGHT Strategically placed accent lighting can bring warmth and atmosphere to your space. Details at Palm Square, Budaiya, suggests a selection from Foscarini of Italy. YOKO – ANDERSSEN & VOLL As the name itself – formed by two similar but non-identical syllables – suggests, Yoko is a dialogue between two forms which unite to create a new balance. On the light body at the base rests a delicate diffuser resembling an iridescent bubble. Designed by Norwegian Anderssen & Voll, Yoko has brought the lights in the skies of the North to contemporary space. Delicate orange, green and violet hues bring vibrant nuances and reflections to its transparent surfaces. RITUALS – LUDOVICA E ROBERTO PALOMBA The Rituals family of lamps is made up of three distinct but complementary forms which can be used separately or in infinite combinations and harmonious compositions in both table and hanging versions. Designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, they are inspired by traditional Oriental lanterns. However seemingly ready to be lifted into the air, the Rituals lamps transpose the magic of rice paper into the refined physicality of blown, satin-effect glass diffusing a warm, intense light. BINIC – IONNA VAUTRIN Binic is the name of a lighthouse on the coast of Brittany, the region Ionna comes from. In this area the sea is of enormous importance to daily life and so, when Foscarini asked her to design a small, coloured table lamp, Ionna was inspired by the windsocks of ships. It is an object that she has always been curious about and has interpreted through her sensitivity and creativity, together with the Foscarini design team. An unmistakable, hand finished, die-cast aluminum base. A blown glass diffuser that is white inside and coloured outside. Lumiere is an object which, as its name suggests, is also principally a warm, intense and suffused light. An emotion from the far off past that is surprisingly suitable for today’s environments, whether intimate or collective.
