www.womanthismonth.com 57 June 2015 The beautiful stitching and soft leather give the perfect wow effect and we were tempted to spend the night in the car but thought that would be a bit much! FRIDAY With the start of the weekend, it was time to enjoy the car while going about my everyday tasks but first I decided to check out a bit of essential vehicle information. The new Cayenne can be found in five versions, not only the hybrid but all the others have been improved with more power and torque and lower fuel consumption. I also discovered that the car parked in my garage is the world’s first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment. Actually, the world's first hybrid vehicle also came from Porsche. The 1899 Lohner-Porsche, designed by Ferdinand Porsche, combined battery-electric drive with a combustion engine. The Cayenne’s high-voltage battery enables it to be charged both at a mains supply and during your journey and while the idea of having a hybrid car may sound complicated, it’s truly fun! The car always starts using battery power and while driving you can transfer energy back to the battery using the traction of the wheels while braking (called regenerative braking) or by changing to e-charge mode, to use the combustion engine to create energy to the battery. This means that you can always charge the battery while driving without having to use the power source. My first test then was to check out the difference in torque between using the battery and the engine. To my surprise I couldn’t notice any change in performance, the car responded equally as well when using the battery. The day went on with lunch, cover shoot (yeah, I drove the Cayenne S E-Hybrid to meet Karima Sharabi, our cover star this month, to have her pictures done), dinner and the day ended with a quiet evening at home. SATURDAY My last 24 hours with the Cayenne and I wanted to make the most of it! A sunny day, it was perfect for a long drive. Bahrain is a small country, but its roads can get busy during the week, so the weekend was the ideal time to put the car through its paces. Two of the features I really liked were the on-board computers. Having the option of putting a city map right in front of you (in the panel behind the driving wheel) was awesome! The other computer could be set to show all sorts of car performance factors, my favourite was the one showing exactly which system was being used while driving. You could actually see that when using the brakes, energy was being created and sent to the battery. Another thing that scored major points for me was how safe and in control of the car I felt while driving. It responds really well to your driving decisions which makes the experience really enjoyable. Looking for more information, I found the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid has a Porsche Stability Management with vacuum brake booster, brake assist, multi-collision brake and electric parking brake. So it is designed to respond. The AC works wonders! The car is refreshed in seconds and the new Porsche Cayenne comes with optional seat ventilation, which is perfect for the weather in the Middle East. The day ended with a nice ride around Amwaj for the shoot enjoying the envious glances of other drivers. SUNDAY The alarm clock tells me it’s time to return the car. I drive to the Porsche Centre Bahrain enjoying the last kilometres and thinking of the whole experience. My final thoughts go to the fact that the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid is a perfect car for both men and women. It has all the features women look for, comfort, design and space. And men will enjoy the car’s performance, design and power. Looking for a complete luxury vehicle? I believe you’ll find all you’re looking for in this beautiful and practical car. The starting price is BD32,800. Enjoy the Ramadan deals to be the proud owner of a Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid! Call 17 459-911.
