48 | June 2013 www.womanthismonth.com Celebrity Lifestyle At Face Value Her sophistication has always attracted the brand, and Chanel has now extended their work with Diane Kruger by using her for a new beauty campaign. Diane is a close friend of Karl Lagerfeld, has fronted ad campaigns for Chanel’s fragrance and handbag lines and is a regular on the front row at the French fashion house’s catwalk shows. So, it comes as no surprise that she has been named as the new face of Chanel Skincare. “With her natural elegance and beauty, Diane Kruger is one of the most famous faces of international cinema,” read a statement from the brand. “Attracted by her cosmopolitan spirit and artistic background, the House of Chanel chose her for its Allure fragrance advertising campaign in 1996; then again for the ParisBiarritz bag advertising campaign, shot by Karl Lagerfeld in 2007.” The 36-year-old German actress will turn her attention to the beauty range with a new advertisement due to be released later this year. This is her first foray into make-up for Chanel, where she’ll be joining their other beautiful ambassador — Gisele Bündchen, the face of the brand’s Les Beiges make-up line. Kruger has known Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld since she was 16 and frequently wears his designs on the red carpet, describing him as being “like a godfather” to her. The new face of the skincare collection has a few tips and secrets to spare. “The one thing I always travel with is my concealer,” she revealed. “No matter what I do, whether it’s playing up my eyes or creating a bold lip, the skin is the most important thing. It has to look flawless and have an even tone.” The woman is an absolute natural for a skincare brand ambassador, boasting the kind of unmarked, pristine complexion we envision in our dreams.
