70 July-August 2015 www.womanthismonth.com showcase Ramadan this year is happening during a hot month, when the weather can take a toll on your skin and your hair can look brittle if you don’t manage to keep your lifestyle balanced. Take good care of your beauty this Ramadan with these great tips from Joz Salon & Spa: - Drink lots of water. While not fasting, make sure you get yourself hydrated. - Shower in warm water. The hot water dries your skin faster so avoid long hot baths. - Drink green tea for Suhoor. This helps to hydrate your skin and gives you fresher breath the next day. - Avoid fatty food or soda drinks. Iftar is your first meal of the day, so make sure it is a healthy one. Opt for grilled meats and lots of salad to replace the lost nutrients. - Have a cup of yogurt daily. Yogurt makes you feel full longer and hydrates your skin. - Use potato for dark circles. During this period it is normal to stay up late, so dark circles may start showing under your eyes. Apply round slices of potato for 10-15 minutes daily to soothe their appearance. - Limit caffeine intake. Whether it is soda, coffee or tea, they all contain caffeine and this absorbs minerals and liquids from your body, which is not good. - Watch your sugar intake. You may be tempted to eat a lot of sweets and desserts during this month, however, make sure you control the consumption. Sugar may cause acne. - Indulge with nuts. Some nuts, especially almonds, are rich in fibres and fatty acids which are really good to boost your skin’s appearance. - Hair masks. Hydrate and nourish your hair with different types of home treatments. Check the ones available at Label.m for great results. - Choose the right brush. For long hair, always opt for a hair brush made with natural hair. If you have short tresses, pick one made of nylon. - Watch your diet. Eat as many vegetables and fruits as possible combined with milk and yogurt. Remember to drink at least one cup of milk or yogurt per day.
