This exclusive restaurant is located on the 50th floor and the innovative menu features Wolfgang’s signature, modern take on traditional Asian cuisine and provides a “re”-evolution of the chef’s passion for food. Call 17 115-000. 23 Savour contemporary Indian cuisine at Rasoi by Vineet as India’s first Michelin-starred chef-restaurateur, Vineet Bhatia, takes you on a culinary journey offering a modern interpretation of traditional Indian cuisine. The restaurant also features a private ‘Chef’s Table’ dining room. Opens daily noon-3pm (Friday 1pm-4pm) and 7pm-11pm. The exciting menu focuses on local and seasonal ingredients and provides a gastronomic line-up of staples such as home-made pasta as well as speciality dishes that highlight an innovative fusion of Italian and local flavours. FOOD FAR AND WIDE 25 Putting a new twist on the traditional shawarma, Bayti, next to Bahrain Financial Harbour, has funky retro-inspired décor and a menu that brings the Arabic sandwich bang up to date with special marinades and even a chocolate shawarma. Call 77 258-888. 27 Villa Mamas, in Saar, is one of a crop of newish restaurants across the island operated by young Bahraini entrepreneurs and offering traditional Bahraini and regional food alongside more international dishes. Bright décor and super-friendly staff make this place stand out from the crowd. Call 17 305-031. 28 Kenza at the K Hotel offers excellent Arabic and traditional Lebanese food in a gorgeous Arabesque setting where the exotic colours reflect the flavours of the cuisine. There’s live entertainment nightly and the outdoor terrace with its comfortable sofa-style seating makes this a particular favourite during the cooler months. Open daily 7pm-2am. Call 17 360-000. 29 An award-winning seafood restaurant, La Mer offers thematic cuisine and is quite possibly one of the most romantic restaurants on the island. Offering breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf, from where much of the fresh fish and seafood is caught, guests can select their meal from the display and watch it being cooked right in front of their eyes.
