I wasn’t sure what to expect from the treatment apart from a welcome respite from the heat and, of course, 90 minutes of pure pleasure. I made my way to the spa and was greeted by the friendly spa manager, Joie Shiela, who introduced me to the lovely Nan, the senior therapist who would be looking after me. She escorted me to the treatment room and explained in detail what the procedure entails. Dess’Lift is an energy-based treatment using natural ingredients, which are conducted into the deeper layers of the skin, for an immediate glow and visible lift effect. The benefits are that it gives triple action care – plumping, firming and lifting. Nan started by removing my make-up with a biphasic (part water-, part oil-based) cleanser. Next, she applied Instant De Beauté exfoliating mask with enzymatic action, massaged in a circular motion with her fingertips until the texture liquefied. After wiping my face with a warm towel and spraying it with Dessange Floral water to lock in moisture, it was time for the Dess’Lift machine. This procedure involves two phases – detoxifying and tonification. Forget the science behind it and imagine you’re getting a good scrub with two round sponges moving in circular motion to take away all the impurities from your skin. To do this, Nan used a detoxificant fluid and Perle De Beauté gentle toner with cotton extract. While some people get a feeling similar to static electricity, I felt nothing more than a slight tingling sensation. With the machine in ‘Tonification’ mode Nan applied Vegetable Royal Jelly – a moisturising gel with essential oil of rosemary, mint and aloe vera – that serves as a travel medium for the current. She soaked the sponges in the tonificant fluid and glided it over my face and neck at various current settings. The sweet smell of royal jelly accompanied by the coolness of the gel gave a very comforting feeling. Next was a face lymphatic massage and then came the part of the facial I enjoyed most – mask application. Nan used a thick layer of Dess’Lift 3D lifting cream on my face and neck. She then put a collagen mask – set with cotton soaked in mineral water – and immediately applied another mask which gently heats on top. What transpired during the next 10 minutes is a bit of a blur as I drifted in and out of sleep, with Nan giving me a shoulder and head massage. Next thing I knew, she was removing the mask and finishing off with Dess‘Lift 3D Cream and Révélation Jeunesse anti-aging eye and lip cream. When I looked in the mirror, I was visibly glowing and my skin looked and felt amazing – the results were almost immediate. And the best part was that my skin looked even better after a few hours.
