19 WOTYA 2025 womanthismonth.com | JANUARY 2026 Winner of the Woman in Media category at the Woman of the Year Awards 2025, Aisha Ebrahim is a dedicated media professional with more than a decade of experience spanning news broadcasting, media relations and corporate communications. Holding both an MBA and a B.Ed, she is a strong advocate for lifelong learning, professional development and valuedriven work within the media landscape. What was a moment during the ceremony that felt most meaningful to you? Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to work commitments. However, I was delighted to be announced as the winner in the Woman in Media category. I shared the news with my family and friends, as well as on my social media platforms, and followed the highlights of the evening through online coverage. Were there any reactions from family, team, or community that surprised you? I would not say there were any unexpected reactions. In fact, I was more surprised by the announcement of my win than my family and friends were. Their messages of happiness and support truly warmed my heart. I was also touched by the volume of congratulatory messages from colleagues, acquaintances and individuals across social media. How has winning informed your priorities or plans since the awards night? My priorities and plans have largely remained the same. However, this achievement has given me an added sense of motivation and encouragement to continue pursuing my goals with focus and commitment. How will you use the prize, platform, or network that came with this award? I am keen to build meaningful connections with this year’s awardees and participants, and to continue learning through shared experiences within this inspiring network. What concrete next steps or milestones are you committing to in the next 12 months? With multiple roles and responsibilities, my focus over the next year is on maintaining a healthy balance between my professional commitments as a media figure and news anchor, my day job, and my personal life. This includes nurturing strong relationships with family and friends, while continuing to make time for my interests and hobbies. What is one piece of advice you would give to young women looking up to you now that you have won? You do not have to be the best or the most perfect to gain recognition. What matters most is staying true to yourself, being authentic and working hard. Those qualities truly do pay off.
