But fear not, I might’ve just found the perfect solution, with a little help from Dessange Paris Bahrain. I was asked to put the Power Plate workout to the test, followed by an LPG session and I happily obliged! Since I’ve given up smoking, I’ve been struggling a little with my weight (and it’s not because I’m eating more, but because my body is desperately trying to get back to normal and my hormones are all out of whack). So, I was keen to try out my first Power Plate vibration training, which my fitness instructor, Lovely, walked me through after a routine consultation. She explained that we would do the entire workout on the Power Plate, which is basically a vibrating platform. An effective workout, it has various benefits, from cardiovascular to immune health, maintaining bone density and improving hormone efficiency. It also helps increase the body’s metabolism in conjunction with detoxification, and is the best method for quick and sustainable weight loss. The shaking amplifies any motion performed on a vibration plate, meaning your body does more effective work in a shorter time period, with persistent muscle engagement. Like any other form of exercise, training on the machine encourages faster calorie consumption, consequently increasing your metabolic rate, so you’ll lose more fat, even when you’re not working out! We started with a gentle fiveminute warm-up and then dived straight into the main workout. It began with single leg lunges, followed by more lunges with bicep curl (5lbs plate), side lunges, back row with kickback, triceps push-ups, triceps dips, standing back row and back fly with weights, crunches, alternate knee to elbow crunches, mountain climbers and finally the plank. Luckily, my muscle memory had come back by then and I was thoroughly enjoying the workout, which ended with a short massage and stretching. All of this had taken only 30 minutes and I was feeling amazing at the end of it. I was rewarded for all my hard work with a refreshing detox juice of celery, green apple, ginger and kale – it was delicious! I was raring to go to my next appointment, the LPG session. Having already tried this procedure once before and having seen the benefits, I was looking forward to it, especially since it’s meant to have a greater slimming effect when combined with exercise. For those of you who are new to the procedure – it’s 100 per cent non-invasive, completely natural and pain-free. It’ a mechanical massage that stimulates the natural breaking down of fats to re-sculpt the figure, smooth cellulite, firm the skin and slim fat cells. Sounds good, right? Believe me, it is! The LPG machine looks like a mini vacuum cleaner hose with a head on it, only much fancier. With repeated sessions, LPG promises significant inch loss and offers different types of Lipomassage treatments. I chose Shorty for waist, stomach, buttocks, thighs and saddle bags. My friendly therapist, Erin, punched in the programme, explaining how LPG is great for toning and reducing cellulite. With visual instructions on the screen, I could see exactly which parts would be affected. She started on my right side, moving the head in a rolling in and out action, combined with circular motions. I don’t have a great threshold for pain and, to my relief, it didn’t hurt much, except in certain sensitive parts, when I felt the skin pull a little, giving a slight tingling sensation. Two to three sessions per week with a gap of one or two days are recommended for the best possible results. Most people see benefits in six to eight sittings, with optimum results after 12, combined with exercise.
