DIPLOMAT RADISSON BLU HOTEL, RESIDENCE & SPA BUILDING ON REPUTATION With more than 10 years in the industry, Helen Davies is an advocate of the wellness movement. Having studied sports at university, and being pretty sporty herself, she says moving into the "more customer facing" area of spa management was a logical progression. Helen worked at the Wellness Centre in Muscat, Oman, for two years but, with good friends on the island, visited Bahrain often and, when she decided to make the move, the Diplomat came calling. She says: “I’m very happy to join the Diplomat, which is one of the oldest and most established hotels on the island. The spa has a good reputation and I plan to build on that.” The venue uses products from French luxury brand Phytomer and offers a whole range of treatments for ladies, men and couples. There is an outdoor swimming pool and the women’s area also has an indoor pool and large rooms where groups of girls, such as wedding parties, can chill out, relax and enjoy a massage. Helen says: “I love this industry; you meet different people every day and you just never know what’s going to walk through the door. The spa already offers a really good service. My immediate future plans are to continue with that and, of course, to see where we can improve for the future.” Aside from an extensive range of spa treatments, the facility boasts a fully equipped gym which offers qualified personal trainers and classes for both Diplomat members and non-members and also runs a monthly members’ fitness challenge to get the spirit of competition roused.
