Woman This Month - February 2017

news February 2017 www.womanthismonth.com 6 OVER TO YOU #The original Facebook post quickly went viral and now organisers are anticipating 200,000 could attend the Women's March on Washington. For anyone who's not been paying attention, it's the day after Donald Trump will be sworn in as president. Organisers of the march say they want to greet Trump's presidency by making a statement. "The Women's March on Washington will send a bold message to our new government on their first day in office, and to the world that women's rights are human rights," the march's mission statement reads. "We stand together, recognising that defending the most marginalised among us is defending all of us." CNN #To help combat a series of mid-flight sexual assault allegations, India's national carrier will now offer female-only seating areas for concerned women flying alone. Air India says the speciality seating will come at no additional cost to passengers and will only be offered on domestic flights during its initial rollout. The Most Liked Post on Instagram I want to say a big thank you for the advert you regularly carry for Women’s Crisis Care International. I spotted it last month and, within days, a friend was badly in need of help. I was able to point her in the right direction and she cannot speak highly enough of the people she encountered. She had been assaulted and was so thankful to have someone on her side, right the way through to the court appearance. This is an invaluable service and I would urge everyone to get behind it in any way they can. Thanks again WTM for letting us know about it. Name supplied. I loved last month’s cover and all the fitness advice so appropriate for the New Year. I read it and felt very inspired. But that’s all very well for January, can you please introduce a regular fitness section for those of us who find it hard to get motivated throughout the year – reading tips and encouragement really does help. Noor, Janabiya. Got something you want to get off your chest? Congratulations, commiserations and remonstrations all welcome. We’ll carry the best one each week.
