showcase February 2017 45 www.womanthismonth.com Turbocharge your immune system and mental wellbeing by immersing yourself in the beneficial practice of hatha yoga at this five-star property. THE DIPLOMAT RADISSON BLU HOTEL, RESIDENCE & SPA A SANCTUARY OF SERENITY Give yourself a total mind-body workout at The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa’s hatha yoga classes every Monday and Tuesday. The newly introduced lessons are conducted by certified practitioner Urmila Shrestha at the hotel’s Health Club. “This form of yoga differs greatly from other styles because emphasis is given to a series of postures which are meant to align the skeletal and muscular structure whilst calming the mind,” says Urmila, demonstrating the lotus position for WTM. Hatha yoga can be used to complement most weight and strength training programmes, whilst being a precursor to meditation. “Many people in this region think that yoga is merely done to improve flexibility. However, the benefits are innumerable and range from toning the spine to curbing food cravings and aiding in weight loss,” she explains. Although all age groups can reap the mental and physical benefits, Urmila is mindful of the level of exertion of individual students. “The full scope of the exercises are customised to suit each person’s needs, and not everyone needs to look like a contortionist during the activity,” she says. The classes take place at 6.45pm on both days, making for the perfect post-work stress buster. Sessions are priced at BD5 per person. Call 17 531-666.
