Woman This Month - February 2015

60 February 2015 www.womanthismonth.com DINING FEATURE | review Italian Master Chef Woman This Month was treated to a gastronomic treat of epic proportions at Primavera at The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel & Spa. The moment we walked in, we were, true to the Ritz-Carlton service, whisked into an airy and light restaurant and were taken care of from the word go. It’s always personal with the Ritz – you always feel like you’re in good hands – which is helpful when you’re not familiar with the menu items! Sajjad, the restaurant’s supervisor, brimming with energy and knowledge, talked us through the Italian specialities on the menu. From home-made bread to European-sourced seabass and locally fished hammour, Primavera prides itself on its genuine produce. Before diving into the menu, though, you can’t help but muse over the surroundings. On a weekday with little chaos and noise, the restaurant looks out onto the expansive leafy grounds with a bit of the skyline poking through. We were in awe of how tranquil and peaceful the setting was but could also imagine how romantic it would be for an evening meal – hint, hint! After taking in the scenery we sat and let Sajjad take over and make some recommendations in light of food allergies and personal taste. Despite being an Italian restaurant, where there is inevitably a domination of spaghetti and bread, Primavera is highly accommodating to gluten, dairy and wheat intolerances – there are plenty of substitutes and vegetarian/vegan options. To begin our hearty feast we had burrata cheese with cherry tomatoes, fresh basil and generous drizzles of olive oil. Believe us when we say this was the best variation of mozzarella cheese we have ever tasted. Before we go on Chef Simone and supervisor Sajjad WTM's Farheen and Georgie
