www.womanthismonth.com 45 February 2015 showcase BANJOOLI An explosion of colour in a collection of chairs, sofas and tables designed for outdoor use is the latest member of Moroso’s M’Afrique collection from designers such as Patricia Urquiola and Sebastian Herkner. Inspired by the courtship dance of the male ostrich, the chair coverings are made in Senegal from the handwoven nets of local fishermen making each design unique with different colours and pattern weaves available on request. TAKE A SEAT A quirky chair or seating arrangement can form an interesting talking point. Details at Palm Square came up with this selection from Moroso: the beauty of design. SMOCK Another design from Patricia Urquiola, the Smock armchair features stylised detail with intricate use of fabric on a utilitarian frame. The ruched sides and use of colour make this a fun object that will, at the same time, add an unmistakable designer touch to your home. BOUQUET This small armchair by Tokujin Yoshioka blooms on a slim metal stem with the cover resembling petals made up of fabric squares folded by hand and sewn one by one with practised care and infinite patience to cover the entire seat, creating the illusion of a bouquet. MOON Yoshioka’s Moon presents aesthetic simplicity with flowing lines designed to create harmony with the surrounding space. Its originality lies in the visual movement it generates when hit by light which it absorbs producing an almost lifelike quality. LOWLAND Easily adapted to any modern decorating scheme, the clean lines and minimalist shape of Lowland, by Patricia Urquiola, lend a sophisticated feel while at the same time offering comfort and durability. FJORD Taking its inspiration from a broken shell and the cutaway fissures along the Nordic coastline, the Fjord chair by Patricia Urquiola features deep cuts in its construction which make it an object of interest and even curiosity.
